Flax and hemp are two of the strongest and oldest textile fibers in existence dating as far back as 8,000 BC. Now, they’re making a comeback. And for good reason.

One place these microplastics are being found is in our seafood. Globally, about 26% of fish species are found to ingest microplastics, which is roughly the same in the U.S. Microplastics affect the fish’s ability to survive and to reproduce, and that can have population level impacts.
“So we should think about this from a human health perspective but also from a fish health perspective. And in the end, that’s going to influence how many fish there are out there to catch.”
Opting for natural fiber gear instead of synthetic gear is a simple and effective way to decrease microplastic pollution.

"I'm loving this new addition to the Lava Linens collection! Compared to the original Lava towel, this option is about half the size (and weight), but it feels like it's just as absorbent. I love the lightweight, breezy feel of the fabric. And the designs add a really pretty touch to any room when not in use. Great for van life/tiny living where every ounce of space really counts!"
