Let's compare:
Commonly used for:
Designed with intention:
We spent almost a year searching for linen with the perfect weight and texture for our adventure towels. We knew we wanted a towel that was different, that when you held it in your hand you would immediately recognize its durability and craftsmanship. And that when you used it, you wouldn’t believe how well it absorbed the water and how it just continued to get better over time.
Finally, the hard work, patience and persistence paid off with a sample that arrived from France. We knew then, we found exactly what we were looking for. We are thrilled to be able to provide adventurers of all kinds with a towel that outperforms all others.
Floor mat:
Spread it out across sharp, gravel-laden trailheads or on rocky shores. It will protect your bum and your feet as you change your shoes or take a rest.
Neck cooler:
Linen is thermoregulating. On hot days, dip your Mini in the lake and drape it around your neck to keep cool.
Sun protector:
The tight, dense weave offers protection from the sun. Drape your Mini over your legs as you paddle or across your shoulders as you hike.
Luxurious dog towel:
Dry off your adventurous pup after a day full of play.
"Researchers find that over 1,000 metric tons of microplastic fall on 11 protected areas in the US annually. That’s the equivalent to over 120 million plastic water bottles.”
Matt Simon. “Plastic Rain is the New Acid Rain.” Wired Magazine. June 11, 2020.
The good news is, we can turn this around. Microplastics are tiny fragments from plastic products, and fibers shed from our synthetic clothing and gear. By simply opting to use a plant-fiber Lava towel instead of a microfiber towel, you can prevent up to 12 credit cards worth of microplastics from entering our air, water and soil every year.
Adventurer Tested. Planet Approved.
Linen and hemp are the strongest plant fibers with many beneficial qualities for the adventurer and the planet.
Flax and hemp require only 3% of the water cotton requires to grow and both are carbon-sink plants.
To go a step beyond, our flax and hemp are Masters of Linen® certified European Flax® which guarantees no pesticides, no artificial irrigation, no GMOs and no defoliants were used or created in the cultivation and production of our flax and hemp.
How do I care for my Mini?
It’s simple! Machine or hand wash in water up to 60 degrees with a gentle spin. Hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat. Remove promptly.
One of the greatest things about linen is the more you use them the softer and more supple they will become!
Is the Mini quick to dry?
Yes, the Lava Mini dries significantly faster than your average bath towel! It also dries twice as fast as microfiber per ounce of water absorbed.
Is the Mini packable?
Absolutely! The Lava Mini rolls to the size of a 12oz glass.
How absorbent is the Mini?
Very! The Lava Mini absorbs up to 9 oz of water and up to 50% more water than microfiber towels of the same size!
Should I expect my Mini to shrink when washed?
Shrinking will depend largely on how you choose to care for your Mini.
Washing in cold water and drying on a low temperature will nearly eliminate shrinking entirely.
Do I need to wash my Mini before I use it?
Yes. Your Lava Mini will be significantly more absorbent after the first wash. Wash with like colors.
What are these fuzzy spots and variations in the weave of my towel?
One of the most prized qualities of linen is the way it reflects nature – perfectly imperfect. Unlike manmade fibers and cellulose fibers like cotton, linen fibers meander from thick to thin with nubs and slubs throughout the textile. The variation enhances the texture and does not affect the integrity of the material.
We look over our linen prior to crafting our towels and after every towel is created to assure there are no variations beyond what is considered natural for linen fiber textiles.
