Lava towels are tightly woven with long smooth anti-static fibers so the sand, dirt and leaves remain in the outdoors instead of on your towel, on you, in your pack or in your home.
Flax and hemp are very easy to care for. Simply machine wash your Lava towels in cold water, no hotter than 60 degrees F.
Tumble dry them on low heat or hang them to dry.
To achieve maximum absorbency, avoid fabric softeners and dryer sheets.
It comes down to the very special combination of climate and soil paired with centuries of knowledge and artisanship of local flax growers and scutchers.
Floor mat:
Spread it out across sharp, gravel-laden trailheads or on rocky shores. It will protect your bum and your feet as you change your shoes or take a rest.
Changing curtain:
Hang it up or wrap it around your body for a bit of privacy while you change clothing.

How do I care for my Duo?
It’s simple! Machine or hand wash in water up to 60 degrees with like colors on a gentle spin. Hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat. Remove promptly.
One of the greatest things about hemp and linen textiles is the more you use them the softer and more supple they will become!
Is the Classic + Mini Duo quick to dry?
Yes, this Duo dries significantly faster than your average bath towel! It also dries twice as fast as microfiber per ounce of water absorbed.

Absolutely! The Lava Mini rolls to the size of a 12oz glass. The Lava Classic rolls to the size of a 32oz water bottle.

Should I expect my Classic + Mini towels to shrink when washed?
Shrinking will depend largely on how you choose to care for your Classic + Mini Duo.
Washing in cold water and drying at a low temperature will nearly eliminate shrinking entirely.
Do I need to wash my Classic + Mini Duo towels before I use them?
Yes. Your Lava towels will be significantly more absorbent after the first wash. Wash with like colors.
What are these fuzzy spots and variations in the weave of my towels?
One of the most prized qualities of linen is the way it reflects nature – perfectly imperfect. Unlike manmade fibers and cellulose fibers like cotton, linen fibers meander from thick to thin with nubs and slubs throughout the textile. The variation enhances the texture and does not affect the integrity of the material.
We look over our linen prior to crafting our towels and after every towel is created to assure there are no variations beyond what is considered natural for linen fiber textiles.
